SCAR Group Guidelines

  • Events SCAR participates in fall into 2 types: SCAR-Sponsored and General Interest:

-SCAR-Sponsored events are either held directly by SCAR or one that SCAR plays a big role in organizing another event (sponsoring a company, providing leadership roles, providing a group of citizens for, etc). WE NEED SCAR’s FULL HELP WITH THESE, SO PLEASE SIGN UP.

-General Interest events are ones that we all hear about from friends, and might want to get a

small group to go to in an unofficial capacity. These kinds of events are optional for us.

  • Local event policy guidelines will determine if one is of age to carry a rifle. We defer to this because every event/park/site location usually has different rules regarding minimum age for doing so.

  • SCAR members will request to be together in any one unit when attending a military or civilian event. This helps build camaraderie. This also optimizes logistics of getting to and from an event when we ride together as much as possible.

  • Alcohol abuse and illegal substance abuse will not be tolerated. Those members found to be in violation will banned from further participation with SCAR.

  • Mind your manners around the womenfolk and children. They are our compatriots in building better events, so no shady, un-family oriented activity will be tolerated towards them. Keep it PG-rated AND FAMILY FRIENDLY.

  •  Theft will not be tolerated. Legal action will be taken if a member is found in violation.

  • Members must attend a minimum of two events annually at a SCAR sponsored event AND/OR general interest event. Exceptions may be made on case by case bases due to unforeseen circumstances. (Military deployment, sickness, death, etc.)

  • Unless historically-supported scenario dictates, NO WOMEN WILL SERVE IN TRADITIONAL MALE ROLES. This means NO GALTROOPS, unless research proves they existed for a particular scenario.

  • Associate members or individuals attending a SCAR event do not have voting privileges, but to retain the right to participate with and are welcome to fall in with SCAR at any event.

  •  Participants must meet all posted event, adjunct and SCAR uniform/dress guidelines particular for each event.

  • Members of SCAR must be open to both military and civilian roles, if gender appropriate. We are a hybrid organization that portrays both equally well. Broaden your understanding of the period!

  • To be a full-member of SCAR, you –must- be committed to SCAR event attendance. This means if you say you are attending a SCAR event, ATTEND THE SCAR EVENT. If you can’t make it, which happens to us all at some point since this is a hobby (we ALL understand, trust us), you need to let us all know as early as possible in order that we can find work-arounds for what you were supposed to contribute to the event. People are relying on you, so don’t let your friends in SCAR down.

  • When another event conflicts with a SCAR-sponsored event, ATTEND THE SCAR EVENT. It’s ok to do other events outside of SCAR, but the group needs your participation in order for us to be successful. Plus, if you are one of the SCAR family, we’ll probably miss you if we don’t see you.

  • All official group business will be disseminated via SCAR Facebook Page, so if you don’t have access to it, please try to get it and check it often.

  • All event information will be regularly updated on the SCAR website under the events tab, so please check here first if you have any questions.

  • Any reenactor willing to join the group must provide 2 reference points-of-contact from other known organizations (unless they are brand-new to the hobby).

  • Failure to adhere to either the SCAR Group Guidelines or event authenticity guidelines may lead to possible expulsion from the Southeast Coalition of Authentic Reenactors.

  • We have a vetting process for those that wish to join. We welcome all hobbyists that are serious about research-based historical impressions, of all demographics. Please send an email to cwscarfamily@hotmail.com to inquire on how to join.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, BRING A GOOD ATTITUDE, A THIRST FOR HISTORY, A LOVE OF ADVENTURE, AND A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN TOGETHER!
