Step back in time to the enchanting era of the 1850-60s as Heyward House Museum proudly presents its Living History Program "Ancient Oaks", showcases visitors to the captivating civilian life of the Lowcountry in South Carolina. Throughout the day, experience a journey into the past with interactive stations showcasing the intricacies of 1850-60s living, from the art of sewing and spinning to the melodies of period-specific music. Engage in the traditions of the era through activities such as skills demonstrations, cooking, sewing, material culture, and weaving, allowing guests to connect with the rich cultural tapestry of the region.
The evening will be a culinary celebration, featuring the best seafood the Lowcountry has to offer. Join the spirited revelry as the band takes center stage, bringing to life the authentic melodies of the period.
A period, non-denominational Christian Church service on Sunday will cap-off the weekend as well.
