Please Read: Special Note to Participants

Dear fellow civilian 19th Century living historians,

Bring your period-correct passion for demonstrating living history! Even if you don't have a particular skill, your fellowship is welcomed. Your contributions are crucial to the success of this event, offering a chance for meaningful fellowship and indulging in your living history passion in the heart of the Lowcountry, a tribute to where the Deep South began.

Please note: This is not an immersion experience, but an 1850-60s showcase demonstration of living history for the general public. There will be a modern fall festival across the street in the park nearby, of period skills, handicrafts, and modern vendors. The event is designed to benefit the Heyward House Museum and Bluffton/Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce in order to help preserve cultural heritage of this historic town. Hopefully, we can make this into a more-frequent event that spotlights Lowcountry Southeastern Heritage and educates the public on history!

Come prepared not only to interpret, but also to relish the local area. Beyond the event, you'll find ample reasons to extend your stay, with close proximity to vacation and historical destinations like Savannah, Hilton Head Island, and Charleston. Indulge in the abundance of restaurants, beaches, and historical attractions surrounding this perfect spot for enthusiasts of mid-19th-century history. This is a place of relaxation and beauty, very popular with locals and tourists alike. Make it a full weeks visit!

The Bluffton Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce and the Heyward House Museum extend a warm welcome to living historians from all around, inviting you to contribute to making this place special by bringing the history of the area to life in an exciting and innovative way.
